Professional Development
Professional
development programs are offered on a variety of themes,
including support for creating and sustaining a private practice based
on holistic business practices. The professional development programs
are held in the philosophical framework of holistic psychotherapy.
These two exciting professional development classes are
run when demand and my schedule allow.

About Madeline's Professional Development Work
The professional development and support services that I
offer have grown out of my 18 years experience in counseling,
facilitating, and teaching. This work is based on a belief in the
holistic nature of people and life. It is client-centered and honours
the unique mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of each
client.
Inherently my philosophy focuses on wellness rather than
pathology. It encourages the practitioner to seek out the strengths
that exist in the client and to bring these strengths to other areas of
the self that are weak or undeveloped. Individual assessment is used to
determine which interventions will be most effective and appropriate.
A relational approach is stressed including the
importance of developing a healthy relationship with self and others.
This approach uses the therapeutic relationship to draw out issues and
historic patterns that have contributed to difficulties in engaging in
life in a deeply satisfying way. The work includes a significant focus
on ego development while also holding awareness of the transpersonal
dimensions. Its goal is to enable each client, through awareness and
growth, to come to embody their fullest potential.
My approach stresses the importance of ongoing personal
and professional development for therapists. The adage is true: a
client can only go as far as the therapist has gone and is prepared to
go himself or herself. Since 2001 I have offered professional
development services to individual therapists. This work has increased
their skill level, fostered an attitude of self-awareness and
self-assessment, and encouraged creativity in their therapeutic work.
